The apostle Paul writes to the Saints which are at Ephesus and uses three chapter divisions to explain the position we have in Christ, 1 1/2 to explain our walk and service, then 1 1/2 to explain our walk and warfare. We have looked at the vocation and walk, 4:1; the attitude of walk, 4:2; and the endeavoring to walk in unity, 4:3. As we endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit we are given seven notable areas where unity must be focused. The number 7, even from creation, is a number of completeness, and perfection. Our unity with other believers should be complete, and perfect. First there is 1) unity in one body, that body is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of truth (1Tim.3:15). Christ loves the church (Eph.5:25-26) and a Bible believer should love the church. It is the gathering together with other believers to rally and marinate in the truth. The body of Christ, the church, is organized and commissioned 5 times with its job; not to beg money, nor better society, nor drill wells, nor march on Washington; No,… It is to preach the gospel. America is laden with apostate churches that do not follow His Word and we are not to fellowship or unite with apostate churches. 2) There is to be a unity in Spirit. Do not let a little “s” spirit unite anything at the cost of doctrine, but let the capital “S” Spirit unite us in Bible doctrine. 3) We are to be united in Lordship salvation, 4) in one faith,… by grace, without works, 5) in one baptism, no water here, just complete immersion in Christ! Lastly 7) united in one God and Father of all, … and IN you all. Let's get, … united in Christ.
