“The aged Apostle now knows he will miss the Rapture. ... As Paul hears the Mamertine executioner sharpening his ax, he turns his heart to Home”¹. “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. … Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness ...”(2Tim.4:6,8). Such joy of Paul is expressed to the Philippians with three references to “the day of Christ.” “In the midst of a crooked and perverse nation … Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ” (2:15-17).

The “day of Christ” relates wholly to the reward and blessing of saints at his coming. Of “the day of the LORD”, the coming day of judgment, God says, “Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! To what end is it for you? The day of the LORD is darkness, and not light” (Amos5:18). Of that day God says, “Turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning …” (Joel.2:12-13). In these last of the last days the genuine Christian is to be: 1) Fasting and weeping because judgment is coming to America; 2) Rejoicing, for the day of Jesus Christ is approaching; and 3) Holding forth the word of life, i.e. the gospel, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation. Jesus said, “rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Lu.10:20) Keep these balanced my friend. God preserved Rachab while the walls of Jericho fell, if need be he can preserve his saints as the halls of America fall. Believers are not appointed to wrath, PTL! (via 3-5:9s, 2Thes.5:9, Rom.5:9, and Heb.5:9).
