The apostle Paul writes to the Saints which are at Ephesus with three powerful explanations of: Our Position in Christ 1:3-3:21, Our Walk and Service 4:1–5:17, and Our Walk and Warfare 5:18-6:24. If you are not in position, God can save anybody: get in! (Eph2:1–10). For those IN Christ, concerning our walk and service, Paul beseeches us to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called. In Christ, you have a new “vocation”, an occupation, an employment, a trade, a profession; you are a convert, a believer, a disciple, a Christian. Walk worthy of your vocation!

In the Bible election and callings have to do with service not salvation. There's a corporate calling for all to be saved, but once you are “IN” the Elect-One, you are elect and called to service, it's a vocation! The esteemed, John Calvin never got this right, and Calvinists are forever bungling around in error. So, how does a “Christian” (one IN-Christ, who acts like, looks like, smells like, talks like, thinks like, and reacts like Christ) how does he walk? “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love” (Eph.4:2). But wait, there’s more: “Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”(vr.3). An endeavor is an effort, an attempt, a labor towards a goal. Unity will be an endeavoring! The modernist who said, “Don’t let doctrine divide us, let the 'spirit' unite us,” mucked up a lot of Christian walk. Paul, here, gives seven unities to be kept in the bond of peace. You are remiss to throw them all out for some dangerous, charismatic little “s” “spirit.” All four attitudes of vr.2 need analyzed in my life, and all seven unities of vr.4-6 need bolstered with good doctrine. Let's get cracken.
