What The Bible Says

Good Samaritan's Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” (1Kngs.17:1) Israel's 7th king, Ahab, was the worst of the worse, Omri, his father held the title before him (1Kngs.16:25, 30, 21:25) and Ahab would be the third dynasty of Israel utterly wiped from the face of God's earth (1Kngs.21:21-22). Of the nineteen kings of Israel seventeen “departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam who made Israel to sin,” this was a leadership lineage that did evil continually. God now calls up a prophet who walks onto the page of our Bible and announces that Jehovah God is the one in charge of weather, rain, and climate, and Ahab, you will taste great drought until the day you know that “The LORD, he is God; the LORD, he is God” (18:39).

Thirty years ago a conservative hero, Rush Limbaugh, announced “America Held Hostage by Clintons!” Now we have a pro-socialist leadership using Marxist ideology to destroy America, and conservative heroes dance with Bruce Jenner! There is no hope in conservative stalwarts; people need the Lord. This week you will rub shoulders with someone taught K-12 that there is no God in heaven, we have no Creator, and we gotta do something to save the planet. You might be the only Bible they every read. Elijah, God's prophet did not change the course of the nation, it spiraled down through ten more kings into God's judgment, but he changed a few lives. In Yates county NY, I'll not be a nation changer, but, by God's grace, and through God's Son I can change a few lives. So can you.
