Msg #24052 Jesus – Worthy of Worship
What The Bible Says
Good Samaritan’s Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice
Jesus said, “for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve” (Luk.4:8). Thou shalt have no other god before thee, but wise men “when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him” (Mat.2:11). “And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him” (8:2). “Behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him” (9:18). “They that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God” (14:33). “Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me” (15:25). “They came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him”(28:9). “When they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted” (28:17).
And further, “When he (a man with an unclean spirit,) saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him” (Mrk.5:6). “And they (disciples) worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy” (Luk.24:52). “And he (blind from his birth) said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him” (Jhn.9:38). Peter forbid Cornelius’s worship, Paul the Lycaonian’s, (Acts.10:25-26, 14:11-15), angels refused man’s worship… but the Son of Man, the Second Adam, He is to be worshiped. Of our Lord Jesus Christ it is said, “The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Rev.4:10-11), and again, “The four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever” (5:14). Wise men still worship him. Happy New Year.
