Spring and fall revival meetings can saturate us with preaching when our schedules are in moderate upheaval. It is a good thing to refocus prayer lives and expound “the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord, … the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings” (Phil.3:8,10). Even “that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches Christ” and know “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable, … which doeth marvelous things without number” (Eph.3:8,Ps.145:3,Job.5:9). Then to come back in the evening and sing Psalm 18:3 and 46 3x, then rehearse verse 2 to recall the LORD is 1) my rock, 2) my fortress, 3) my deliverer; 4) my God, 5) my strength, 6) my buckler, 7) the horn of my salvation, and 8) and my high tower, concluding in song, “Now I belong to Jesus.” On Monday to hear “Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. … How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” (Matt.10:31,Ps.139:17). And on Tuesday to hear how Psalms 19 declares God in three ways and the central one has 6Appellations, 7Adjectives, and 6Actions attached. On Wednesday expound Psalm 100’s 1) his presence, 2) he is God, 3) he made us, 4) his people, 5) his pasture, 6) his gates, 7) his courts, 8) his name, 9) his mercy, 10) his truth. And Thursday to be reminded that “in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh”, take care there are many deceivers so review Matthew 24’s 7 indicators of the Lord’s imminent return. Revival meetings are good “to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them” (2Pet.1:12). God is good.
