Msg#2531 Mystery Babylon Revealed
Add Media FileWhat The Bible Says
Good Samaritan’s Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice
The last NT mystery revealed in the Bible is, “Mystery Babylon – The Mystery of the Woman and of the Beast” expounded in Revelation 17. The name Babylon comes from Babel, of Genesis 11:9, and means confusion. Symbolically it refers to the Gentile world dominion holding the whole social order of the world in confusion. The NT Revelation is that such a confused gentile world dominion will come to a cataclysmic end; “Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the gentiles, until the times of the gentiles be fulfilled” (Luke.21:4). God has ordained that Israel be in her own land, be the center of divine government of the world, and be the channel of divine blessing for the whole world, period! In Revelation 17, both the Symbolic-Political Babylon and the Symbolic-Religious Babylon, both under the tyranny of the Beast, meet their final doom. Religious-Babylon, called “the great whore that sits upon many many waters (17:1), is destroyed by Political-Babylon portrayed as 10 horns that are the 10 kings; “And the 10 horns which thou saws upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire” (17:16). Political-Babylon is to be destroyed when they make war with the Lamb (vr.14), at the appearing of the Lord, in a battle called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon (Rev.16:16, 19:19-21). Many “Christians” have tried to make sense of end time prophecy; they’ve called it allegorical and apocalyptic, but in reality God says what he means and means what he says. The final stewardship test for mankind, called “the dispensation of the fullness of times” (Eph.1:10), is when Christ rule’s the world from Israel’s Jerusalem for 1,000 years, and his church, the bride of Christ, will be there with him.
