Msg#2525 Parables and Prophetic Church History
What The Bible Says
Good Samaritan’s Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice
In one chapter of Matthew’s Gospel Jesus puts forth seven parables that begin, “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto …” and they are given, “Because it is given to you (believers-disciples) to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven” (Matt.13, vr.11). These revealed-mysteries occupy the period of time between Christ’s sufferings and his coming in glory. They are precious gems of insight and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are occupied with wheat and tares, a grain of mustard, and leaven in three measures of meal. “All these spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them” (13:34). The “I will build my church” that occupies in this time period is not Holy, nor Roman, nor Catholic, as the multitude supposes. It is infested with tares, lodging fowls in its denominational branches, and leavened with sin throughout its three measures. The suffering Servant and the Messianic King are two mountain peeks of prophetic scripture, and are thus far separated by 2,000 years of very ugly church history. The parables fit the “few there be that find it” (Matt.7:14); the Catholic Jezebel (Rev.2:20); and the apostate sin leavened into 348 denominations of “Christendom”. Don’t trust the “Church History” of Rome, who banished and burnt genuine believers at the stake, but wholly trust the Prophetic Church History given by Jesus (Rev.2-3). And now, here today, wallowing in a vile final Laodicean church age we are counseled, “buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent” (Rev.3:18-19).
