Msg #2501 A Resolution to Believe
What The Bible Says
Good Samaritan’s Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” It is good to start this new two-thousandth-and-twenty-fifth year of our Lord with resolution that we believe every word of his Bible, and Genesis 1 is an excellent start. “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Heb.11:3); so this is an ex-nihilo (out of nothing) creation. Time, space, and matter continuums, each with three tenses, dimensions, or states, is a big deal to wrap one’s head around, so comprehend that there was no planet earth, or solar system on day one. Earth here is matter, and it is without form and void until the Spirit of God assembled a hydrogen atom, with a proton and a neutron, buzzed about by an angry little electron. He then crammed eight hydrogen atoms into one package, labeled oxygen, which stuck magnanimously to two hydrogen atoms and the first molecule was called water. The Spirit then moved upon the face of the waters, and matter, called earth, was no longer without form and void. In time man discovers that protons and neutrons are made of NOTHING, they are just energy-bands enfolding on themselves. In God’s next verse, he adds light energy, and in the fifth verse he closes the first day of his creation week; “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day” (Exod.20:11). God says what he means and means what he says! Even nuclear physics approves.
