Programs:
-
Specific ongoing programs are not extensively detailed in public sources, likely due to the church’s small size and rural setting. However, it aligns with traditional Baptist practices, which typically include:
-
Sunday Worship Services: Morning and possibly evening services featuring preaching and hymn singing.
-
Sunday School: Bible study classes for various age groups.
-
Midweek Service: Likely a prayer meeting or Bible study, common in Baptist churches.
-
-
The church emphasizes preaching the Gospel as its primary method for outreach and spiritual growth, maintaining a simple, traditional approach rather than extensive modern programs.
-
-
Affiliations: Little Obion Baptist Church is an Independent Baptist church, meaning it operates autonomously without formal ties to larger denominational bodies like the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) or Baptist Bible Fellowship International (BBFI). Some sources describe it as having a Southern Baptist influence, but its independent status is consistently highlighted, focusing on local governance and ministry.
-
Doctrinal Positions:
-
The church identifies as a “King James Only” congregation, using exclusively the King James Version of the Bible, reflecting a commitment to traditional biblical texts.
-
It holds to historic Baptist beliefs, including the inerrancy and authority of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and the importance of personal repentance and conversion.
-
Doctrines likely include the Trinity, the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, death, and resurrection, and a premillennial view of Christ’s return, typical of Independent Baptist theology.
-
The church’s mission emphasizes preaching as the means God uses to save souls and change lives, rejecting modern or liberal reinterpretations of God’s sovereignty, justice, and omnipotence. It promotes a conservative stance, maintaining traditional practices and resisting cultural compromise.
