Affiliations:
The First Baptist Church of Pierceton is an Independent Baptist Church. This means it is not formally affiliated with a larger Baptist denomination like the Southern Baptist Convention or American Baptist Churches USA, but rather operates autonomously. Independent Baptist churches often prioritize local church governance and independence from hierarchical structures. -
Doctrinal Positions:
As an Independent Baptist church, it adheres to traditional Baptist beliefs, which typically include:-
The authority and inerrancy of the Bible as the Word of God.
-
Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
-
Believer’s baptism by immersion (as opposed to infant baptism).
-
The church explicitly states on its website that it preaches “the Bible’s message of salvation” and “the truth of God’s Word without reservation or apology,” suggesting a conservative, fundamentalist approach to doctrine.
-
Some Independent Baptist churches, including this one, may use the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible exclusively, though this is not explicitly confirmed in all sources for this specific church.
-
-
Christian School:
There is no indication that the First Baptist Church of Pierceton operates a Christian school. Unlike some larger Baptist churches (e.g., First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, which runs Hammond Baptist Schools and Hyles-Anderson College), this church does not mention a school in its programs or online presence. Its focus appears to be on worship services, Bible study, and community outreach rather than educational institutions.

First Baptist Church of Pierceton, Indiana is seeking a bi-vocational youth/assistant pastor. The church has a Sunday morning attendance of around 40 with a good mixture of ages. The church uses the King James Version exclusively in teaching and preaching. There is an established King’s Kids Club and Teen program on Wednesdays with 20-25 children and teens. The church also is engaged in various outreach ministries, including an annual Kid’s Sunday (140 attendance last year), VBS, youth rallies, local festival outreach, bus ministry, and a nursing home ministry. The candidate would need to be bi-vocational to begin with, but the church does have a house next door that they are willing to make available while getting established. Responsibilities would include leading the youth programs and bus ministry, teaching the teen class, occasional preaching, and could potentially lead to assuming the pastorate, as the current pastor of 19 years is looking for a transition during the next 3-4 years. For more information or to apply, please contact Pastor Mark Fishburn, [email protected].
