Msg#1631 Pour Out Living Water

What The Bible Says

Good Samaritan's Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice

“David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate” (2Sam 23:15). People still long for water from that well: living water, spiritual water, everlasting water. Jesus described it, “Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be a well of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14). Born and raised in Bethlehem, David longed for the cold refreshing water he remembered from the well by the gate. His three most noble men broke through the garrison of the Philistines to get it to him. In America, in an election year, it is obvious that the Philistines still exist, but the believer does not need to pearl his life to make the living water available to the thirsty. The fulfilled “Well of Bethlehem,” our Lord Jesus Christ, said, “He that believeth on me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38). David knew how precious the water was, and the blood and jeopardy involved in securing it. “He would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.” Roman Catholics and their Protestant denominations think they have holy water; Baptists know better. “Behold God is my salvation.... Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation” (Isa 12:2-3). “I am Alpha and Omega... I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.... And the Spirit and bride say, Come.... And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely” (Rev 21:6, 22:17). In the next hundred days pour out some water in America.
