What The Bible Says

Good Samaritan's Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice

“O little town of Bethlehem, how still be see thee lie! … Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light; the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight. … So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heaven, … Where meek souls will receive him still, the dear Christ enters in.” Philip Brooks' poetry captures truths that are put to the test when Christmas Day celebrations fall on Resurrection Day celebrations, wherein born-again Bible believing Christians gather together in the Church house for worship on the Lord's Day … or not!

In the midst of a nation which erects solar panels to the false god of Climate Change, bows to Charles Darwin's outlandish theories and deifies abominable sexual perversion, it is curious, it is enlightening, and it is encouraging to see who comes to Bible believing churches to worship on Christmas Day. In 2022 Marxist thugs with whetted ideologies of insurrection stand in schools and government just like Sennacherib stood defying the Lord God of Jerusalem (2Kngs.18 & 19). And yet, a few visitors seeking Truth, and worshipers holding Truth, gathered together on Christmas Day. Hezekiah taught us it does not take a majority to overthrow God's enemies. “And Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread (Sennacherib's letter) before the LORD. And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, … thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth” (19:14-15). When God defying Midianites came like grasshoppers for multitude, Gideon discovered that God doesn't even want a majority (Jdgs.6-7). “Where meek souls will receive him still, the dear Christ enters in.” Merry Christmas. Pray for defeated enemies and victorious Christians in 2023.
