Msg #2207 Valentine Condolences

What The Bible Says

Good Samaritan's Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice

Happy Valentine's Day and my sincere condolences on the loss of your significant other. The upcoming spring time begins with Valentine's Day and rich memories, or sincere pursuits, of being in love, being significant to someone, and being secure in that relationship. God created man in his image and likeness with a deep seated passion for those three. We are designed to love and to be loved, to give significance to someone and be significant to someone. We have peace and joy in our lives when we have genuine physical, emotional, and spiritual security in such a relationship. When our love, or our significance, or our security is shaken, unstable, or broken it cuts to the very core of our being. When you buried your loved one, when “till death do us part” parted, you were crushed, and broken and deprived temporarily of all of those core essentials of life.

I write on this threshold of spring time so that you and others will know and muse, in deep thought, close attention and contemplation about what you buried. But I write also to assure you that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ loves you with a selfless, everlasting love. Although you are but a spec in humanity which is but a spec in his universe you are so very significant to the Creator's only begotten Son. In his love and in his significance he has made the promise, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” What you buried in this short life time is but a frail taste of what our Lord holds out to us in every day, for all eternity. Real joy and everlasting peace comes when we reciprocate his love, his significance, and his security. Happy Valentine's Day.
