Have you ever said that to yourself or to someone in your family? That question usually comes to mind when we’ve done something foolish or one of our loved ones has done something foolish. Acting impulsively is something most of us have done.

I was thinking about this question yesterday when one of my friends asked me if I had seen the news about the incident in Los Angeles. It seems that one of the commercial jets was approaching LAX airport when the pilot saw a man with a jet pack 300 feet off one of his wings. He spoke to the tower about it. What kind of daredevil straps on a jet pack & flies up close to a major airport 3,000 to 4,000 feet up? Now, the FBI is looking for him! There is no telling how much trouble he’s in. WHAT WAS HE THINKING?

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to soar with the eagles, but you have to have a little common sense. One of my preacher friends use to tell the story of how his older brother convinced him that if he would tie a bunch of feathers around each of his arms & flap his arms real fast he could jump out of the loft of their barn & fly. Needless to say, that was a disaster & he hurt himself pretty good. WHAT WAS HE THINKING?

There is a way we can soar with the eagles. Spiritually, we can mount up with the wings of eagles when we wait upon the Lord. Isaiah 40:31! Reading your Bible will always get you closer to God way faster than any jet pack ever could!
