What The Bible Says

Good Samaritan's Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice

Baptist churches with sensible themes for 2020 will obviously include something about vision and will practically include Acts 20:20. We could use such a theme to enliven our old fashion, dying out, door-to-door soul-winning efforts. In Daniel 11 the Bible says that saints left in the perils of the last days “shall be strong, and do exploits, ... and instruct many” (Dan 11:32-33). Those few who understand the premillennial return of Christ and pretribulation rapture of the church know that this section of scripture is speaking of the tribulation saints, not church saints, but we can find excellent application to our days in this Laodicean church age. In 2020, almost unbelievably, we are only one vote away from socialism/communism in America. Keep your Bible open to those verses and understand that in any communist system “those that do know their God... some of them of understanding shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days” (11:35). The saints that do know their God, and understand, dare not be wringing their hands and fretting about how bad things are getting. Nor should we who have Daniel 11 in our King James Bible expect that any meager efforts on our part will change the depraved course of human government. What should we do? The application is clear. We should take Acts 20:20 start going door-to-door, and house-to-house (again) to “be strong, and do exploits, ... and instruct many.” It just aint going to get done by effeminate evangelicals waving their NIVs1 n ESVs2 inside their apostate churches. So let's have a few Baptists who will quit whining, pull up their big-boy pants, and do some 2020 house-to-house exploits in their door-to-door soul-winning weekly visitation and bus-route programs. Praise the Lord and get cracken!
